LGC Trap Team and Club Trap Meets
LGC participates in the Livingston County and Inland Waters Trap shooting leagues. We shoot a full schedule in both leagues and host several meets yearly. Trap practice is held every Wednesday from @3-6p and generally runs as late acceptable lighting permits. Even if you haven't shot trap before but wish to try, the practices are open to potential new members and members alike who want to give it a go. A helpful member may even let you borrow a gun. Bring your eye and ear protection please.
LGC Range Events
We don't currently shoot in any official rifle or pistol leagues but we do host some bragging rights gatherings and unofficial target competitions. We have developed some in-house targets and games to keep everyone busy. Currently limited to rimfire, we're looking at pistol and centerfire rifle for 2025.
Check the calendar page for event details and dates.
Event Planners and Coordinators needed: We're looking at running pistol and centerfire gatherings for 2025, much like what we did in 2024 with rimfires. But we need more help to make things happen. If you are interesed in helping, contact Jamie at limagunclub@gmail.com and we'll talk about what we need and what you can do. Ideas for competition and activities always appreciated.
RANGE EVENT COMPETITION INFO
Once a month from spring through fall, we are meeting on a day (usually Thurs evening) for a good natured little bragging rights competition. Currently limited to rimfires only, but we've expanded to include andy .22 caliber pistol or rifle, .17 caliber HM2 and HMR. We have different targets and different limitations by caliber and pistols limited to the pistol range. We're working on full pistol and rifle events for 2025.
LGC RANGE EVENTS : Process and Rules
Please sign in, pick up your targets and put your name and gun specs on the target using the marker. Note target numbers on sign in.
We’ll usually have one official competition target that we’ve chosen for the evening and a few other challenges
Once we have three shooters signed in, those shooters are responsible for mounting their own targets as needed at the correct yardages. Once targets are mounted and range clear and safe, these three shooters can commence practice and shooting at their convenience.
Practice targets are located on the far left at 50 yard berm. Use this target to warm up before shooting your official target.
The 50 yard shooting bench is reserved for people prepping to shoot, warming up, and then shooting their official target at 25 or 50 yards. Please only use this bench for general shooting once everyone is done shooting their official target or things have slowed down a bit.
The 100 yard bench should be used for practice and to shoot your official target at 50 or 100 yards. Please do not monopolize this bench. Limit your time to 10-15 minutes and check to see if others are waiting. Remove your rifle promptly from the bench to our nice racks.
Pistol shooters must use 25 yard range only and stay behind the firing line.
When the group of shooters is done shooting their official targets, they are responsible for calling for cease fire and collecting targets. Next group of shooters will simultaneously mount their targets, and then shoot, and so on.
Some simple rules:
Follow all normal LGC conduct and safety rules.
Guns always pointed down range or in the racks.
Bolts open, unloaded and no handling at the benches during cease-fire when people are down range.
Use the new Cease Fire warning light system whenever cease fire is in effect. No exceptions.
Return your guns to the racks promptly.
All targets must be in-line and within 3 yards of the face of the berms.
Only a single bag or bipod point of support is allowed under the barrel, not to exceed 6 inches of contact with the rifle. No additional artificial support is allowed at the butt, such as a bag or prop.
We have food and drink funded by the participants via donation, so come throw a few bucks in the can and throw some lead downrange.
